Understanding Tens and Ones
Numbers are like building blocks!
When we count past 10, we start making groups of ten. Each group of ten is called a "ten," and the extra
blocks are called "ones." Together, they make all the numbers up to 30!
How to Count Tens and Ones
1️⃣ Count by tens first: 10, 20, 30
2️⃣ Add the ones to make other numbers
3️⃣ Remember: The first digit is tens, the second is ones
Let's Practice Together!
Example 1: Count the Blocks
How many blocks are there? Count the tens first, then the ones!
There are 3 tens and 4 ones.
That makes 34 in total!
Example 2: Build a Number
Let's make the number 17 using tens and ones!
